It's like a whole other country here

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City is wonderfully the complete opposite of Phnom Penh.  It is beautifully clean, with lots of green space, the  motorcyclers wear helmets, and traffic signs are often obeyed.  It is wild out there though, with 8 millions people in this city, and all of them zooming by on motorbikes at once.

We arrived Wednesday afternoon, and spent Thursday walking around, drinking ice coffee, and visiting the War Remnants Museum.  It was another hard truth to face and pretty draining, but worthwhile to see the Vietnamese perspective.

Friday was spent on the Mekong River and some islands within, exploring by boat, checking out a coconut candy making operation, and sampling banana wine and local fruits.  We headed to a small village for another homestay, riding our bikes through the neighbourhood and playing football.  Dinner was a display of Vietnam's cuisine, with new favourites including fried banana flower and tofu, and pumpkin soup.

Today we are back in Saigon temporarily, taking the night train to Nha Trang, arriving for the sunrise.

Having a lot of fun with the group, we've formed a good family!
